The Tokyo-based girl artists and creators’ collective bala released its second single Heavenly on June 2.

In March, bala debuted with the song barla, produced by Shinichi Osawa and written by Kenmochi Hidefumi. Across April and May, the group released a remixed version of their debut track featuring rapper BBY NABE, along with solo releases from MANON and SUNNY ONLY 1, members of the main group. Heavenly, a collaboration with an overseas artist, is the result of the collective’s hard work and extensive musical activities.

Produced by BODYSYNC, the disco house tune is packed with 90s flavor. The two members of the overseas project are Ryan Hemsworth, a Canadian producer who has worked with massively popular artists like Joji and Mitsuki and has created official remixes for Carly Rae Jepsen, Porter Robinson, ODESZA and Lana Del Ray, and the San Francisco-based producer and beatmaker Giraffage. The track also lets the members show off their girly side, with a somewhat dreamy dance-pop quality.

The melody and lyrics were provided by YUPPA (NHC), who has worked on many of MANON’s solo releases. The cover artwork direction and 3D graphics were provided by DAN and KANO of the bala crew, who also did the cover art for barla.

A music video teaser video has been posted to YouTube and the full video will be released on June 9. The video was directed by the digital creative crew OFBYFOR TOKYO, the same group behind the barla music video.

The song Heavenly will be played at BODYSYNC’s first concert in Japan this weekend.
