[MetaTokyo] Digital Yukata Creator Fest to Be Held in Collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government

MetaTokyo, a global cultural city established in the Metaverse using Web3 technology, will hold the Digital Yukata Creator Fest starting March 2 at the MetaTokyo area in Decentraland, the global Web3 Metaverse platform, and at SusHi Tech Square 1F in front of Yurakucho Station. This will be done in collaboration with Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT].
This year’s festival will be a hybrid event connecting the Metaverse and the city of Tokyo, where yukata designed by children and adults will be transformed into digital yukata and delivered to Metaverse users around the world.
Digital yukata designed by Asao Tokoro, KAREN11, and Soultry Dubs, who are artists active in the fields of digital art and digital fashion, will be on display on the day of the creative event as well as in the Metaverse.
<The Significance of MetaTokyo’s Participation>
Since 2021, MetaTokyo has been sharing Japanese culture globally by combining technologies and platforms such as Web3 and the Metaverse with entertainment, fashion, and pieces of cultural heritage.
As the only Japanese official partner of global events such as the Metaverse Fashion Week and the Metaverse Music Festival, MetaTokyo actively collaborates with domestic and international creators and is now highly recognized by the global Metaverse community. In 2023, the venue was selected for a Metaverse event in collaboration with MTV, TIME magazine, and other outlets and is also known as a world Metaverse landmark.
The event will combine MetaTokyo’s longstanding focus on digital fashion with NFTs to distribute digital yukata to Metaverse users around the world, who will then be able to wear them. It also allows for secondary distribution.
The digital yukata will serve as the creator’s self-expression and will then become connected to the self-expression of the event’s participants. User avatars will wear the digital yukata, thereby connecting citizens and the world through digital creativity and creating a place where people can freely express themselves.
The collaboration between MetaTokyo, a global cultural city in the Metaverse, and the real Tokyo represents the current fusion of digital and real identities and cultures. This is where the transmission of creativity and culture that transcends distance and time differences will continue to accelerate.

Event Content:
Participants will be able to design their own yukata easily and freely using pens, markers, etc., following the template just like a coloring book. No pre-registration is required, so feel free to come alone or with the whole family. Our staff will support you so that you can express your creativity.
The event will feature creators such as KAREN11, a 13-year-old digital fashion designer. She’ll talk about her interest and passion for creativity, what inspired her to design digital fashion, and its future. Please see the official website for chat times and other information.

■Digital Yukata Voting Event
30 designs will be selected from the digital yukatas designed by the participants by popular vote.
Voting Period: April ~ June, 2024 (Tentative) / Voting to take place on a special site
*Real voting events at venues in Tokyo are also being planned.
■Metaverse Event
A hybrid event will be held within MetaTokyo in the global metaverse Decentraland exhibiting selected digital yukata and connecting the event between the metaverse and a real venue in Tokyo.
This is scheduled to be held in August 2024 at a venue in Tokyo.
