Natsuko Kondo‘s digital mini-album, KCP-second-, was released on May 18.

The title “KCP” refers to Kondo’s city pop project, created to commemorate the 15th anniversary of her debut. Inspired by classic city pop songs from the 1970s and 1980s, the artist has been releasing one of his reinterpretations each month on YouTube since 2025.

This album is the second compilation of songs released between July and December 2025. The album features six distinct tracks, including Blue Scene, a vivid portrayal of a summer moment; Watashino Koiwa Shizumu Cherry, a song that breaks new ground with its enka-style melody; Mrs. Madonna, a track that portrays a mature woman; Country, notable for its mellow sound and poignant lyrics; Aizuchi, which evokes the arrival of winter; and Open Heart, a track that embodies Kondo’s signature style and instantly lifts listener’s spirits just by listening.

Some tracks capture the essence of the seasons, while others give listeners the sense of something that has been revived from a bygone era. I think this album is packed with the full essence of the city pop genre. I was able to fully enjoy the process of creating this album, and the result is a work that could only have been expressed by KCP, including my unique vocal style.
