Licaxxx to Provide Music for ‘ZEN NIGHT WALK KYOTO’ at Kennin-ji, the Oldest Zen Temple in Kyoto
2024.07.08
From August 2 until September 22, ZEN NIGHT WALK KYOTO, a music-filled nighttime art event, will be held at Kennin-ji, the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto. Inviting audiences to enjoy sound, silence, light, and shadow, the event will feature music by Licaxxx.
■About ZEN NIGHT WALK TOKYO
Kyoto is a wildly popular location in Japan, visited by more than 50 million domestic and international tourists annually. Kennin-ji is located in the busy Shijo-dori area and is visited by half of all tourists to Kyoto. It is known as the oldest Zen temple in the city, filled with history and culture.
This year’s nighttime event at Kennin-ji temple will offer a fantastic and introspective experience, in which guests can enjoy the temple differently than they would during the daytime. While traversing the grounds, visitors will listen to ‘brain-tuning neuro music’* by Licaxxx. A temple tour will feature an art installation in the Daiouen garden, one of Japan’s most beloved gardens, made to look like a sea of clouds to help guests beat the heat. Additional art installations include the symbolic dragons of Kennin-ji temple by Junsaku Koizumi and Unryouzu, a digital work by contemporary artist Akira Wakita.
The collaborative music will also be available to stream for free on VIE Tunes, an app offering ‘neuro music.’
*’Neuro music’ is described as ‘music designed to enhance or activate a certain band of brain waves,’ and its effect on the brain have been scientifically proven. It is composed to influence the human mind and body, and benefits both concentration and relaxation.
