Yutaro to Star in New Film ‘Homura Kagayoe’

Yutaro will appear in the upcoming film Homura Kagayoe, which will begin airing in theaters on April 3.

Ashina Moritaka is a man who rose from the status of a hostage to the head of his clan, and even earned the respect of Oda Nobunaga. This peerless warlord of the Sengoku period ruled with an iron fist as the 18th head of the Ashina clan, which had flourished for 400 years since the Kamakura period, primarily in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture. Known by the nickname “The Snow Leopard of Aizu, why was his life cut short at the age of 24? Set against the backdrop of a turbulent era of rival warlords, this film portrays the life of a man who lived for the sake of love. Yutaro makes his period drama debut in the role of Oba Sanzaemon, a page in the Ashina clan who is favored by Moritaka.

[Story]
The Ashina clan was a Sengoku-period daimyo family that ruled primarily over the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture for 400 years, beginning in the Kamakura period. At the age of four, Moritaka had a fateful encounter with the enemy commander, Satake Yoshishige, during his first battle. Soon after, Ashina Morikatsu, the heir to the Ashina clan, died of illness at a young age. The clan head, Ashina Morikata, decided to have Morikatsu’s wife, Hikohime, take a husband and become the head of the Ashina clan, while Moritaka, who was being held as a hostage, would succeed him as the 18th head of the Ashina clan. One day, after firmly establishing his authority, Moritaka encountered Ōba Sanzaemon, who was performing a beautiful dance, and was completely captivated in an instant.
