After nine years as a group, the members of ATARASHII GAKKO! will appear on Kouhaku Uta Gassen for the first time ever on December 31, 2023.
ATARASHII GAKKO! made their global debut in 2021 on the U.S. label 88rising and the girls have been gaining more and more fans ever since, wowing audiences with their one-of-a-kind performances and quirky attitudes. This year, the choreography seen during the chorus of OTONABALUE gained traction on social media, with fans around the world quickly mimicking the catchy move.
The group held a concert at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium last month and is currently on a 10-show tour across North America, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and other locales. On January 9, the girls will hold their first solo show at Nippon Budokan.
You’ll want to keep an eye on what ATARASHII GAKKO! does next.

“We’re so honored to be selected to perform for the first time at Kouhaku Uta Gassen. This is our 9th year as a group, and we’ve been able to reach so many new fans this year with the popularity of OTONABLUE. As self-proclaimed representatives of Japan’s youth, we’re thrilled to take part in such a legendary program with such a long history in Japan. We’d love to return to Japan after absorbing as much power and energy as we can during our tour overseas. Thank you so much for your continued support and we’ll see you at the 74th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen Borderless: New Year’s Eve That Transcends and Connects.”
