Known for his transformative makeup transcending gender, nationality, and genre, he has continued to garner attention, recently being put in charge of makeup for a Mika Nakashima music video.

Born in Hiroshima to Korean parents, the creator has suffered from Alopecia universalis since his teenage years and has lost all of his hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows. Despite this, his positive attitude and way of life resonate with a wide range of people, and through makeup, he expresses how to turn perceived weaknesses and sources of insecurity into strengths and togetherness.

GYUTAE won the Best Styling Award 2022 in 2022 and the Nails of the Year Award in 2023. His first book, If You Don’t Have It, Use Makeup, is now on sale from Gentosha.
