Toi Toi Toi, an idol group that stems from the Dark Idol Project, a girl group audition project held by Mikuru Asakura, ABEMA, and ASOBISYSTEM, held its first solo concert, ‘Toi Toi Toi 1^st Solo Love -Be Alright-, at Stellar Ball in Shinagawa on May 30.

The Dark Idol Project is an audition project that was started to support second chances for women who have faced setbacks and struggles. Many viewers were moved by the participant’s crying as they revealed their painful pasts and their desperate attempts to grasp their dreams, which they had almost given up on, by overcoming tough lessons. Toi Toi Toi consists of six members who won their auditions over a period of about three months: Sara Maegaki, Tina Hoshino, Moka Hashimoto, Kyouka Taniya, Kaori Ichijo, and Momo Sakura. The group name, Toi Toi Toi, means “It will work out” or “You’ll be fine!” and was inspired by a spell that is recited while praying for the success and happiness of others. Inspired by the concept of “Be Alright,” the girls aim to be an inspirational presence that can only come from having experienced both hardships and joys in their lives.

To celebrate their first solo concert, fans quickly filled the venue ahead of the show’s start. In addition, the idol group fav me from PEAK SPOT, a new idol project from ASOBISYSTEM, the same company behind Toi Toi Toi, made a guest appearance at the event and encouraged the six nervous performers before their live show.

Finally, the main live performance by Toi Toi Toi was underway. The six members proceeded to the stage, using fan’s penlights as guideposts. The girls were greeted with applause and performed their debut song, Teary Storyteller, which is filled with their pure feelings and determination. “This is where it all begins,” the girls sang, as Toi Toi Toi began its legendary live performance.

Next, they performed Movin’On, an original song for the training camp that drew attention for the tough lessons given by dance instructor Sora Ryu during the Dark Idol program. Kaori Ichijo shed tears of frustration at her inability to dance well at the training camp, but in this live performance, she showed cool and sharp movements and no sign of her past troubles. The group then performed I FOR YOU and Cosmetic Cosmos, two new songs infused with both coolness and cuteness, proving the girl’s incredible potential.

In the second half of the show, the group performed new songs, including Toi Toi Toi, the latest song with the same title as the group’s name. This will be released on June 4, and its lyrics are filled with the group’s wish for the audience not to forget their childhood dreams. The song and dance conveyed their strong and passionate feelings to the fans, as the girls have overcome hardships and setbacks in their past.

As Otona Heroine began, the fan’s voices began to swell in excitement. In addition, the popular song I LOVE ME, which is currently available to stream, was performed with video recording allowed. The cute members were captured by countless camera and shared across social media.

With the excitement in the venue at its peak, the live performance quickly moved on to the last song. HAPPY CLIMAX was performed by the first time along with Tina Hoshino’s passionate call. Once struggling in the darkness, the girls became the idols of their dreams with extraordinary effort and unbreakable determination, and today, they stood on stage for their first solo show. The audience cheered loudly, as if congratulating the girls, and the heat of the venue rose to a climax that, as the name of the song suggests, was the best and happiest of all.

During the MC portion, each of the six members presented a letter to the fans who came to the event. “We are going to become a group that makes you want to brag to your friends that you went to a Toi Toi Toi show, so please keep supporting us,” said Momo Sakura nervously. Kyouka Taniya also revealed her strong feelings for the fans. “I want to become a place for you,” she said. “We’ll be the ones pushing you forward and reminding you not to give up,” Hoshino added.

Toi Toi Toi’s 1st solo live ended with great success. However, this is only the “beginning” of their dream. Fans look forward to seeing what the six members, who have experienced countless setbacks and struggles, will show us in the future as they take the stage to bring hope to many people.
