fav me, formed as the first group of the idol project ‘PEAK SPOT,’ held its debut live title STARTING NEW WORLD at Spotify O-EAST in Shibuya on April 22. Following two and a half months of friendly competition since the announcement of their formation on February 14, the girls have been working hard to reach their ‘peak’ on the idol stage, and their debut performance was sold out on the same day that tickets went on sale.

After the opening movie, all seven members–Azusa Onodera, Karen Abe, Runa Kawagishi, Marin Seno, Rana Maruyama, Maika Miokawa, and Komari Nakamoto–took to the stage in checkered outfits wearing ribbons with their corresponding member color. The legendary debut performance began with New World, the song that started everything for the group. In powerful unison, they sang the powerful words “A new world is beginning” while dancing with all of their strength. “Believe in yourself, fly, overcome your tears, as many times as it takes,” they sang, inspiring both the audience and themselves.

The following rock tune, Straight Stride, was followed by a spontaneous outpouring of cheers from the audience, and the members performed with determination, eager to take a big step forward for the group. As the excitement continued to build on stage and the floor, the members introduced themselves. “I promise I will make you happy,” yelled Azusa Onodera, with the group quickly performing the new song Chushiyou, which had just been released on the day of the concert. The melodic punk sound mixed with the refrain of “chu-chu-chu-chu-chu” and the adorable choreography had the audience’s gaze glued to the stage.

During the first performance of Hug Me!, the fans were captivated by the track’s many energetic solo parts. This was followed by the incredibly positive song Why Not Just Eat the Cake?, followed by Blue Love Letter, which was sung at the group’s pre-debut performance. The energetic melody echoed loudly, carrying the high expectations of the fans. As Chushiyou played as the final song of the show, the music video was projected on the screen, and the audience was able to see it before everyone else. The music video, full of solo cuts, is the perfect way to find your favorite member, just as the group’s name “I want you to favorite me” suggests.

After the encore, a documentary was projected on the screen detailing the group’s growth from the time the name of the group was announced to the member announcements to their debut live performance. The members returned to the stage in white costumes and sang New World, clearly savoring every moment of the show. The entire venue was filled with joy when the girls announced that they would be holding their first tour in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, titled ‘We’re fav me♡,’ and that they would be getting their own TV show on Chukyo TV. Details about the show will be revealed at a later date.

When the seven members talked one by one about their feelings that led to their debut, Marin Seno, who overcame many setbacks to join the group, tearfully made a statement. “We, fav me, want to become the best idol group in Japan.” Blue Love Letter was the last song of the day.

It was hard to believe that this was fav me’s first concert, with the members giving incredibly powerful performances. The first step toward Nippon Budokan, which is the goal of the group’s members, came to an end amidst loud cheers and applause.
