20,000 Fans Gather for KAWAII LAB.’s 3rd Anniversary: A Breathtaking 38-Member Performance!
2025.02.26

To commemorate the third anniversary of the KAWAII LAB. idol project, ‘KAWAII LAB. 3rd Anniversary Special LIVE ~Watashi ‘tachi’ no Ichiban Kawaiitokoro~ supported by UP-T’ was held at K-Arena Yokohama on February 22, 2025. FRUITS ZIPPER, CANDY TUNE, SWEET STEADY, and CUTIE STREET took to the stage, along with KAWAII LAB. MATES, the next generation of KAWAII LAB. Around 20,000 passionate fans were in the audience.
Despite being the largest arena performance ever for a KAWAII LAB. event, tickets quickly sold out. Unfortunately, the three-day weekend was marked by severe cold weather, but fans still filled the venue with incredible energy and enthusiasm. The show began with Chou Medetai Song -Konnani Shiawasede Iinokana?-, with FRUITS ZIPPER, CANDY TUNE, SWEET STEADY, and CUTIE STREET appearing on stage in girly costumes created for Larme magazine. The members moved around the stage freely and exchanged eye contact with each other, creating a festive atmosphere. The audience responded immediately to the energetic performance, waving colorful penlights in the air.
After each group gave their self-introductions, FRUITS ZIPPER Suzuka Chinzei and Manaka Mana remained on stage for the KAWAII LAB. recap. “KAWAII LAB. now consists of 38 members, which is a huge increase from our start three years ago. We have so many more family members now,” Chizei said, looking back at the project’s history. “Can you sing in an even louder voice from your stomach,” Manaka asked as KAWAII LAB. MATES appeared on stage, performing two songs, including the original track Watashi no Shinro ga Kimattara. Their fresh performance was filled with a bright and bubbly energy, and the entire venue was enveloped in happy vibes. At this point, the addition of two new members from KAWAII LAB. MATES, Karin Suzuki and Rusia Yamamoto, were announced to the audience’s surprise.
Going forward, CUTIE STREET appeared as the crowd clapped along to the Overture. The group performed Serious Cinderella! and Hello Hello Future along with a cover of FRUITS ZIPPER’s NEW KAWAII. The audience cheered loudly during Haruka Sakuraba’s line, and the members of CUTIE STREET delivered cuteness to the best of their ability. The girls also performed Earth Makeup Project and Happy World! along with a variety of other tracks, bringing more color to the venue. CUTIE STREET’s final song was their signature track Can’t we just be cute? -Kawaii Dakejya Damedesuka-. The audience cheered loudly as if they had been waiting for the song to begin, and the performance was boosted by the passion in the arena.
SWEET STEADY then took the stage, performing Just Kidding!, Magic of the Heart, and Diamond Days, songs that the girls have performed since their debut last year. Sakina Yamauchi called on the audience to sing along during the group’s cover of Can’t we just be cute? -Kawaii Dakejya Damedesuka-, and the individuality of the seven members led to a completely different vibe when compared to that of CUTIE STREET. Fans chanted along to Pajama Party! at a high tempo, leading to a monumental sense of unity in the venue. The girls concluded their portion of the concert with Hajimari no Aizu, and Nagisa Shoji thanked the audience. “We’re thrilled to be on such a massive stage,” she said.
Taking the baton from SWEET STEADY was CANDY TUNE. The vibes were immaculate as the girls performed Etcetera I LOVE YOU and BAIBAI FIGHT, and Rino Fukuyama encouraged the audience during the MC portion before the group performed a cover of SWEET STEADY’s Pajama Party! The audience was filled with a sense of euphoria as they were mesmerized by not only the cool but also the cute CANDY TUNE. The girls performed Sonaeareba Momantai and wowed fans with their impressive choreography followed by Nanairo Prologue, a fast-moving song detailing the seven members’ goals. The final song, Kiss Me Patissier, has become a trend on TikTok, and the audience responded in kind, raising the energy in the arena to a new level.
The final act was FRUITS ZIPPER, whose song NEW KAWAII brought home an award at the 66th Japan Record Awards. The girls have concerts scheduled for Saitama Super Arena and Kobe’s World Memorial Hall to mark the third anniversary of their debut as they continue to grow in popularity. The audience cheered as the group performed Pure in the World and NEW KAWAII, followed by the new song Kagami, released in February. During this portion, fans were permitted to record footage on their smartphones. A cover of Kiss Me Patissier followed, and K-Arena Yokohama was bathed in the colors of the rainbow. During the second half, FRUITS ZIPPER performed Fruits Basket, Kimi no Akarui Mirai wo Oikakete, and Kanpeki Shugide☆ in rapid succession.
To conclude the show, all KAWAII LAB. members returned to the stage. The title call was given by Karen Matsumoto, and all of the girls began to sing Watashi no Ichiban Kawaiitokoro, the song that launched FRUITS ZIPPER to new heights of popularity and acted as the starting point of the KAWAII LAB. project. Going forward, KAWAII LAB. will continue to transmit KAWAII culture “from Harajuku to the world.”
Misa Kimura, the general producer of KAWAII LAB., appeared on stage at the end of the event to thank the fans who had gathered. “Three years ago, I never thought I would be able to stand on such a big stage on our third anniversary, but thanks to you, four groups and KAWAII LAB. MATES can be here today,” she said. Kimura then announced that “KAWAII LAB. AUDITION 2025” and “KAWAII LAB. SESSION” will be held at Makuhari Messe Event Hall on May 24 and 25, which drew loud cheers from the audience. ‘KAWAII LAB. 3rd Anniversary Special LIVE ~Watashi ‘tachi’ no Ichiban Kawaiitokoro~ is now available to view on OPENREC.tv.
