In 2024, ASOBISYSTEM continued its activities across various genres with a focus on entertainment, with the year sure to lead the company into the future with many breakthrough artists and project launches. Below, we have listed our major accomplishments for 2024.

■ATARASHII GAKKO! Successfully Completes World Tour

ATARASHII GAKKO! made huge strides in 2024, appearing on the 74th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, marking the group’s first performance on the popular New Year’s program. The girls performed seemingly countless gigs in both Japan and abroad.

To kick things off, ATARASHII GAKKO! performed solo at the world’s largest music festival, ‘Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’, held in the U.S. in April 2024. On April 14 and 21, they appeared as the grand finale on the GOBI STAGE and thrilled the audience gathered from all over the world with their imposing performance as “representatives of youth culture in Japan.”

In June, after performing at one of Europe’s largest music festivals, Primavera Sound, the group began its world tour, AG! Calling WORLD TOUR Part 1. The girls toured 13 venues in Asia and Europe, and in September and October, they toured an additional 13 venues in North America under the new title Part 2, drawing 65,000 people at a total of 26 venues. Following up on that success, the music video for Tokyo Calling was nominated for Best Music Video at the 35th Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan, and won the Silver Award for Music Video Of The Year at the Shots awards Asia Pacific 2024 in October. Concerts and creative pursuits saw particular success in Asia.

In Japan, the NIPPON Calling Tour 2024 marked the group’s largest tour in the country to date, starting in November with 13 shows in seven cities. The event ended with great success on December 22 at Yoyogi National Stadium 1st Gymnasium in Tokyo. The group also won a special International Music Award at the 66th Japan Record Awards, marking two years of consecutive wins. In April 2025, the new fan club tour, ATARASHII GAKKO! Youth Club Tour 2025, will begin, running at full speed toward the 10th anniversary of the group’s formation and its largest-ever Makuhari Messe concert in July.

■Idol Group FRUITS ZIPPER Finds Massive Success

FRUITS ZIPPER first became known throughout Japan for the hit song Watashino Ichiban Kawaiitokoro, which continues to be popular three years after its digital release. As of December 17, 2024, the song has been streamed over 100 million times, with 2.5 billion views on TikTok and 40 million music video views. In April, the group began the regular program Mariyuka to Onedari FRUITS ZIPPER (TV Asahi), further cementing the group’s popularity in Japan.

The group held its first Nippon Budokan concert, FRUITS ZIPPER 2nd ANNIVERSARY Super Congratulations Live ~NEW KAWAII~ 2DAYS, in May, with FRUITS ZIPPER celebrating its second anniversary with an emotional performance. From September to December, the group embarked on FRUITS ZIPPER JAPAN TOUR 2024 – AUTUMN – THE STORY OF SEVEN COLORS, the group’s largest national tour with 15 shows in 12 regions. The group also performed at many music festivals, including ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2024, JAPAN JAM 2024, LuckyFes 2024, and JOIN ALIVE 2024. The scale of their live performances and their activities have been expanding and spreading throughout Japan.

In 2023, the group won Best New Artist at the Japan Record Awards, and in 2024, FRUITS ZIPPER won another award for the song NEW KAWAII, boosting their popularity and recognition.

In May and June of 2025, FRUITS ZIPPER 3rd ANNIVERSARY Super Happy Live will be held to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of FRUITS ZIPPER. We’re looking forward to the different types of ‘kawaii’ the members will show this year!

 

■CUTIE STREET Debuts at #1 on the Charts

CUTIE STREET was formed in Summer 2024 as a new KAWAII LAB group. Its first single, Can’t we just be cute? -Kawaii Dakejya Damedesuka?-, reached the #1 spot on Spotify’s Viral Top 50 chart (as of September 26), and the group’s first single CD released on November 13 debuted at #3 on the Oricon Daily Single Ranking on the first day of its release. In addition, the music video surpassed 10 million views in just 34 days after its release, and as of December 24, it has been viewed more than 18 million times. The group’s social media presence is also staggering, especially on TikTok, where user-generated content has already surpassed 220,000 posts and 2.9 billion song views.

Reflecting these achievements, the song reached #2 on the Billboard JAPAN Hot 100 chart (November 20), charting for eight consecutive weeks through December 5, and was #1 on the TikTok Weekly Top 20 chart for five weeks in a row. The group continued finding success after its debut, reaching #8 on the 2024 Annual TikTok Songs Chart and #14 on the Heatseekers Songs Year End chart for new artists.

In October, the members began appearing on the morning program DayDay. (NTV) and the music program CDTV Live! Live! (TBS), where they sang live. Tickets for the group’s first solo concert, CUTIE STREET 1st Solo Live -CROSS STREET- at Toyosu PIT on February 2, 2025, sold out within one minute of going on sale, speaking to CUTIE STREET’s current popularity and momentum.

Less than two months after their major debut, the girls left their mark on the industry, and expectations for their future activities are high.

 

■Kyary Pamyu Pamyu Welcomes First Child

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, who announced her marriage in 2023, announced the birth of her first child on October 8. “Welcome to the new world  I’ve been looking forward to meeting you,” the artist said on Instagram. “Thank you for allowing me to give birth to you.”

■Nakonako Couple Announces Surprise Engagement

YouTuber couple Nagomi and Ko-kun, known as Nakonako Couple, announced their engagement on stage at the 38th Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2024 SPRING/SUMMER fashion event held on March 2 at Yoyogi National Stadium 1st Gymnasium in Tokyo. As a married couple, the pair’s new activities are drawing plenty of attention.

 

■ASOBISYSTEM Establishes Joint Project YOAKE entertainment with Yasushi Akimoto, etc.

In February 2024, ASOBISYSTEM, TWIN PLANET, W TOKYO, and Y&N Brothers jointly established Yoake entertainment. Yasushi Akimoto serves as general producer, while Sota Watanabe,  one of Japan’s leading Web3 entrepreneurs, and representatives from each company will serve on the board of directors. The company aims to create and nurture a global male idol group utilizing Web3 technology.

The MEN’S YOAKE AUDITION 2024 began taking applications on September 7, the same day as the 39th Tokyo Girls Collection 2024 AUTUMN/WINTER event. Successful candidates will be unveiled at the 40th Tokyo Girls Collection SPRING/SUMMER event scheduled to be held in March 2024. In October, the company announced that it had been selected for Soneium Spark, an incubation program funded by Soneium, a blockchain from Sony. The joint company will continue to build innovative entertainment business models for the global market.

■Announces ASOBISYSTEM x TGC KAWAII LAB. AUDITION 2024 in the Kyushu Area

ASOBISYSTEM, along with W TOKYO, announced the TCG KAWAII LAB.

AUDITION 2024, a project to discover and nurture new talent in the Kyushuu area. Fukuoka native and FRUITS ZIPPER member Amane Tsukiashi has been appointed as an ambassador for the project. The goal is to discover the next generation of culture creators in the Kyushu area and nurture idols who can revitalize the region and share Japanese culture with the world.

■Announces New Joint Business ‘W KAWAII’

At the PONYCANYON USA INC. press conference held on July 3 in Los Angeles, California, ASOBISYSTEM, Activ8 Corporation, and Pony Canyon Inc. announced the launch of the W KAWAII project, a new joint business venture between the three companies. We will take the lead on talent discovery along with real-life production and management, and will create an idol group that aims to conquer the realm of “KAWAII” in both the real and virtual worlds.

 

■New York Sushi Restaurant SUSHIDELIC Wins Grand Prix in Project Category at the CJPF Awards 2024

The sushi restaurant SUSHIDELIC, designed by artist Sebastian Masuda, won the grand prize in the project category at the CJPF Awards 2024, which recognizes initiatives that promote the attractiveness of Japan to overseas markets. The awards are organized by the Cool Japan Public/Private Partnership Platform, and SUSHIDELIC was recognized for highlighting sushi, now popular around the world, in a new and novel way. Visitors are welcome to experience this new-generation sushi restaurant where they can experience the charms of Japan.

Collaboration Event Held at ‘The Stranger’ Nightclub in New York City

The Stranger, a New York nightclub operated by Outside The Box Amusements (OTBA), collaborated with ASOBISYSTEM to create a special concert held on October 4, 2024. Held at The Stranger, known for its vibrant atmosphere and unique events, the concert featured the MONSTER GIRLS and DELIC GIRLS, performers formulated by Sebastian Masuda. Masuda also appeared on stage as a guest DJ, captivating the audience with his unique sensibilities and sound. More collaborative content is being planned in boJapan and New York City in the future.

 

■Musee Platinum Presents OKINAWA COLLECTION 2024 Held in Okinawa

On June 15, Musee Platinum Presents OKINAWA COLLECTION 2024, one of Okinawa’s largest girls’ fashion festivals, was held at Okinawa Arena. Featuring planning and production by ASOBISYSTEM, this year marked the event’s second anniversary, with a focus on promoting the sustainable development of Okinawa and its attractions to the world. In addition to numerous gorgeous guests and local Okinawan models appearing on the runway, the event also featured musical guests like Da-iCE, FRUITS ZIPPER, and more.

In 2024, ASOBISYSTEM saw a boost in recognition both domestically and globally through the company’s activities across a wide variety of fields and genres. We will continue to take on new challenges in 2025 as we aim to introduce Japanese culture and entertainment to the world.
